Using Creativity and Collaboration to Achieve an Impact in the Digital World

"In such doubtful matters, where you have to work as a pioneer, you must be able to put some trust in your intuition and follow your feeling even at the risk of going wrong."
— C.G. Jung

Because even wrong is still right - and there are no mistakes, only lessons.

I want to share a story about my life 4 years ago. I left my job working for a celebrity's (who shall remain nameless) pop culture blog, and just ended the relationship with the person I thought I would marry. Everything I thought I wanted, was revealed as a great illusion - and I decided to follow my heart and intuition, instead of staying in a situation that was unfulfilling, and limiting my creative (and spiritual) potential.

I began a new life for myself, in a very humble apartment, and in the summer of 2013 went down to spend 2 weeks in the jungle in Costa Rica to find clarity about my path and purpose. I drank ayahuasca with the Secoya elders, and met an author whose work completely changed my life, Daniel Pinchbeck.

When I got home from this trip, without any game plan whatsoever, I decided to start a media platform to create and share the type of creative/esoteric/spiritual content that I had been passionate about my whole life - yet previously remained closeted about.

At the time, I had a fair amount of money set aside in Bitcoin, and planned on using that to develop the business. I fell in love, again...hard. I thought I had everything figured out. Then overnight, I lost everything. Literally, every cent I had. Gone.

The platform I held my funds in got "hacked", and then a series of traumatic events happened, one after the next, after the next. I felt like my dreams were being crushed - and it would be impossible for anything to ever work.

Fear swept over me like a sickness, and infected every cell of my spirit. There were so many times that I wanted to give up, and completely give in to the fear, trauma and drama. There were so many times I kept asking spirit "why?".

Eventually - I decided to face my fears, and transcend the limitations of my ego. As someone that began this journey following a path from a trail blazed by spirit, I started listening to my own intuition and spirit again - and I knew in my heart of hearts that I had no option other than to make it all work.

So I let go of fear, and followed love.

With no budget, no college degree, nothing other than my will - I just began reaching out to people I admired in my field, and asked if they would be willing to collaborate.

Content for a social media share, social media shares for content, consulting for content, content for consulting. Trading time for talent, using creativity as a currency.

"As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people's ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life." - Amy Poehler

Little by little, through collaboration and sharing, my platform grew and grew. I bartended, did freelance work, oracle card readings, production assistance - and in just a few years I was able to take my platform from 900 likes to now almost 400,000 - with a monthly reach of over 10 million.

While I work in a very niche-specific market, this creative/collaboration approach can work in many fields - as long as you dissolve the fear of asking a question, and extend a helping hand.

Magick is defined as the "the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will" - and allowing your will to work its magic(k), you too can create an impact in any way your heart desires.

It all begins with feeling that desire, then feeding the desire with action, and eventually (with time, patience, and persistence) action will turn into results.
